Will you look at THAT???
It’s the island in my kitchen, complete with Super-Duper coffee pot and Cheery Crocheted dishcloth. And today it’s making me smile like it’s a tropical island.
Would you believe I’ve spent many an hour in this kitchen trying to find enough counter space to cook a meal? Maybe I’ll post a photo of the rest of the kitchen later… you really have to see the clutter to believe it. Maybe. If I’m not feeling too self-conscious about it.
It turns out giving away so many things creates space. Who knew? And space– in my kitchen– makes me want to celebrate. So we cooked a big pot of black beans and let ’em simmer while making a double batch of homemade tortillas. That counter’s just begging for a light dusting of flour and a rolling pin, isn’t it?
But wait… there’s more. Tortillas are delicious, but not quite celebratory enough. A counter like that needs FRIENDS! So we invited some friends over to cook and chat and have a lovely supper. And for the first time ever, I think, I did not apologize for how messy my house was. 🙂 Because: 1. I feel victorious. (Even though there’s still no problem finding my giveaway things.) and 2. There wasn’t time. Friend walked in and said, “Your kitchen looks so CLEAN!”
Really! Clean! MY kitchen!
And it’s only the beginning of February. This is going to be a very good year.
